Yesterday Bridger turned 7 months old. He really is such a cutie, and so happy. Here is his 7 month picture:
In the morning he had a doctor appointment. It was a follow up to make sure he was still gaining weight. When they weighed him today his weight was back to where it was four weeks ago, which is about the same as his 2 month weight. He gained weight from 2 to 4 months, but after getting croup and being sick little Mister decided he was content with not eating much, which wasn't so good. At his 6 month appointment he weighed the same as he did at 2 months. The doctor said gaining small amounts was okay, but losing weight was of concern. So, over the past four weeks we have been meeting with lactation consultants, supplementing with pumped breast milk, and for two weeks he was gaining about an ounce a day. Since he lost all that weight in a week they did direct admission into Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma for testing and monitoring. He thought the new crib was pretty fun.
They ran some tests; a blood and urine test. He did not think the blood test was too fun. They actually had to do it again today too because even though they said all results were normal, I guess a couple of the tests were inconclusive so they wanted to run them again. He didn't like that too much either, especially since they had to dig into his arm quite a bit more for that. Once they were done he was happy again though.
It took him a while to get to sleep, but eventually he did.
As an update every time I feed him I supplement. Twice a day it is with high calorie solids, and all the other times it is with formula. He is gaining weight, but they want to make sure he will continue to gain weight and not have any adverse reactions (throwing up, diarrhea, etc). So, they are expecting us to be hospitalized through the weekend. So far it seems everything is normal with his kidneys and urinary tract. He is winning over all the nurses with his laughs and smiles, and has been having a lot of fun here at the hospital.
I am glad that he at least happy while there. do keep us posted- you're all in our prayers!
ReplyDeleteThey are just weighing him once a day, at night. His weight tonight was less than last night's, so we'll have to see what they doctor says in the morning. I am guessing he may have been weighed after a feeding yesterday so it's not a big deal. So far all tests are coming back normal. We'll see what happens tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteHopefully he will keep all his food down today and show some added weight. Love you guys!
