Brent's Obituary

Howard Brent Clark "Brent," 76, of Shelley, passed away peacefully Feb. 11, 2017, at his home surrounded by family.

Brent was born Aug. 31, 1940, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Howard George Clark and Modine Allred Clark. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Blackfoot High School. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp.

On Aug. 15, 1958, he married Patricia Ann Akers in Blackfoot, Idaho. Brent and Patti had three daughters: Ann Tonnette "Toni," Kimberly Jo "Kimmer Jo Jo" and Wendy Lynn "Breezy." Brent raised his family in Idaho, where he worked in a long and honored career in law enforcement, the Department of Energy (retired) and later Lockheed Martin. Patti beat him to heaven in 2001. Following her death, he was blessed with another wonderful partner in crime and married Phyllis Jean "PJ" Sayer in 2003, and they made their home in Shelley, Idaho. Brent's family grew with PJ's children, Craig Sayer (Lisa), Scott Sayer (Nikki), Laurie Jolley (Kirk) and Terry King (Verland).

His strong faith in the Lord led him to fellowship at First Baptist Church and later Watersprings. He led a life of volunteer service for many organizations, including the city of Shelley, Citizen Patrol and Arbor Day. He was awarded Shelley's Citizen of the Year in 2009. Above all else, he had a deep and abiding love for his family. Brent laid the foundation for a strong and loving family from day one and continued to grow an incredible legacy he was always most proud of.

Brent was an avid artist, passionate about golfing, fishing, camping, hunting, photography, woodworking and service to others. His zest for life was undeniable. Brent was determined to stay connected to all of his grandkids and became a master texter, with a language all his own, LOL. His infectious smile and laughter will be deeply missed.

Brent is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Sayer "PJ" Clark, of Shelley, Idaho; daughter, Toni (Doug) Vandel, of St. Anthony, Idaho; daughter, Kim (Mike) Smith, of Evanston, Wyoming; sister, Gayle (Phillip) Dance, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, Keith (Reva) Clark, of Riverside, Idaho; sister, Margo (Ron) High, of Federal Way, Washington; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Brent is surely celebrating his heavenly birthday with those who went before him: his parents Howard and Modine; first wife, Patricia Ann; daughter, Wendy; two grandchildren, Ryan and Casey; and great-grandson, Dax.

In accordance with his wishes and following in his footsteps, his family will honor him with a party celebrating his life. To continue Brent's commitment to service, contributions may be made to Campus Crusade for Christ or any favorite charity, in lieu of flowers.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Fielding Memorial Cemetery with military rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
